Greetings from in situ studio! Its been quite a month – check out what we’ve been up to below!
RCR Summer Workshop

Walters’ Stair
Work is in progress on the staircase at the Walters Residence. Our wonderful clients have crafted wood treads which rest on steel plates spanning from a steel stringer to hanging steel rods. The silhouette of the stair is visible from he exterior as it crosses in front of a first floor clerestory window. A large skylight above the stair floods the area with light. We are very pleased with how this one is turning out and look forward to seeing the final refinements. Thanks to Iron on Fire for the hard work!
Bo Saunder’s Residence
We are excited to be well underway with a super fun new house in Cary. Sited off a shortcut between two major arterials, the Bo Saunders Residence is designed and sited to create a barrier to the street and a private garden to the interior of the site. The L-shaped scheme has the main living spaces and master suite on the ground floor and two bedrooms and an office upstairs. Our clients are into climbing, teapots, cooking, gardening, and making stained glass. Needless to say, we’ve proposed a climbing wall – a first for our office. Stay tuned!

Song of the Month
This month we’ve chosen RAC’s cover of Cherry Hearts by The Shins for our song of the month. We know we’ve stumbled upon something special when our entire office wants to hear a song, on repeat, at a high volume. This is one of those. A great lyric from The Shins is stripped of its typical Shinsian accompaniment and coupled with a spacey composition of deep beats and airy guitar. If it doesn’t make you cry, it will make you dance. Pop on some head phones, crank the volume to 11, and find your rhythm with an in situ studio favorite!
Best.
