August 2013

Greetings from in situ studio! As we continue to hear the sound of construction all along Person Street, we are reminded about all that has taken place this past month and all the upcoming events this fall!

First Friday

We are hosting a First Friday event here in our office! Stop by as Pie BirdSo&So Books, and White Whale join us in staying open late, playing great music, and in general, enjoying our new Person Street neighbors. Yellow Dog Bread Co is having its official Grand Opening that Friday and there are even rumors of Hopscotch festivities making an appearance. It will be a great night!

Modapalooza TWO Tour: Register Soon!

North Carolina Modernist Houses is putting on the Modapalooza TWO tour on Saturday, October 19. We are pleased to announce that the Chasen Residence will be one of the eight fabulous houses featured on the tour. Come check out modern downtown living and see the great work other fantastic firms are doing in the area

New Projects

We are excited to have two new house projects in the office! We are enjoying pushing the boundaries of indoor/outdoor living, exploring courtyard concepts and maximizing how each home nestles into its site. Stay tuned as we develop these schemes!

In the Community

School is back in session! Both Matt and Oz are teaching up at NC State‘s College of Design this semester. Matt is teaching Juniors in the Undergraduate Program and Oz working with the Track Three graduate students. Both are excited to be involved at the University. You can be involved too! Stay tuned to the lecture schedule for upcoming talks this semester and feel free to attend!

in situ studio turns 3 years old!

We are looking forward to October when it will officially be 3 years since Erin and Matt founded in situ studio! We are still putting together the details for our annual bash, but we will keep you updated as the evening approaches! Thanks in advance to all of our great clients who have made all of this possible! We couldn’t have done it without you!

Book of the Month

With the opening of Shigeru Ban‘s Cardboard Cathedral in Christchurch, New Zealand, we thought it appropriate for this month’s book to be Design Like You Give a Damn: Architectural Responses to Humanitarian Crises. This book highlights the greatest humanitarian challenge that architects face: providing and creating affordable shelter. Now on its fifth printing, Design Like You Give a Damn, is a compilation of innovative projects throughout the world that are socially and economically conscious. It just so happens thatSo&So Books has a copy on their shelf! Come on by to have a read!

Please contact us if there is any way we can help you.

Best,
