November 2017

It’s been a great month at in situ studio! We had studio final reviews, several new homes start construction, and enjoyed time with our families for Thanksgiving!

AIA Charlotte Design Awards

The Taylor Residence was awarded an Honor Award at last month’s AIA Charlotte Design Awards, presented by Jury Chair Marilys Nepomechie, FAIA – Associate Dean of Architecture at Florida International University. Congratulations to all of the award winners! It was a fun outing for the office and a great chance to catch up with friends in Charlotte. Photo Credit: Keith Isaacs Photography.

Hard Hat Tours at Raleigh Little Theatre

We were excited to be a part of hard hat tours at the Gaddy Goodwin renovation at Raleigh Little Theatre. The theatre invited supporters and volunteers to stop by and hear our team talk about the lobby transformation and see it for themselves. The space is beginning to take shape and we are excited to see construction wrap up early next year. Special thanks to our friends and collaborators at Southeastern Properties and Development, Xylem,Inc., and 3LR Design for all of their hard work.

Studios at NCSU

Zach and Matt’s architecture studios at the NCSU College of Design have come to a close for the semester. Zach’s environment studio studied Charleston’s French Quarter and were tasked with designing a new city museum. Matt’s comprehensive studio focused on infill lots in downtown Raleigh for a new city library. We are thankful for good work, hard working students, and holiday break!

Construction Update

Fall construction continues on four ground-up houses in the Triangle. We have spent much of the month on job sites doing construction administration. One highlight was seeing the installation of Unilux Windows from Mesa Quality, and we look forward to the installation of exterior finishes and cabinets from Xylem in the coming months. Special thanks to Aiello Builders, Builders Unlimited, and Southeastern Properties and Development.

Book of the Month

Our book of the month is a new release from Rizzoli Books“Dwelling” from Allied Works Architecture. The monologue focuses on the firm’s incredible residential work including the Dutchess County Residence and Guest House. If you spend any time perusing their website, make sure you check out the Clyfford Still Museum (an absolute masterpiece and office favorite). We got our copy from So & So Books – let them know if they can get one for you!

Please contact us if there is any way we can help you.

Best.
