DHIC is Set to Begin Construction This Fall
DHIC continues to move toward construction. We are excited to be working with Perry Cox, Cline Design, CMS and Spectra to design exciting downtown living for an affordable price! Special thanks to Hilary Stokes who has been brilliantly marketing these fabulous units!
First Friday in July
We are hosting a First Friday event at the studio on 07 05 13! The fellas from So and So Books will be there,Pie Bird will be providing some nibbles, and we’ll have beer from Trophy Brewing. Some of our new work will be on display, and So and So’s recently ordered architecture section will have arrived. And, while you’re in the North Person neighborhood, stop by Oak City Cycling for food, beer, art, and some goodness by Slingshot Coffee. Other North Person locations like Marsh Woodwinds and Nicole’s will be open as well! See you next week!
Residual Raleigh
Thanks to everyone who came out for the Residual Raleigh hackathon on 06 05 13! The event was a huge success, with over forty people gathering at the Raleigh Urban Design Center to rehash the presentation of the same name we first gave with Brett Hautop of Gensler on 03 20 13. The breakout sessions and discussion that followed yielded many great ideas about how to best leverage the potential of undeveloped space indowntown Raleigh. Our next step is to start an on-line public forum to record the results of the hackathon and continue the discussion. Stay tuned!
Book(s) of the Month
So and So Books has started an architecture section! We have worked closely with So and So to hand select some of what we feel are the most interesting architecture-related books of the past half-century. Currently on order are Case Study Houses, Delirious New York, Design Like You Give a Damn, Devil in the White City, The Architecture of Happiness, Towards a New Architecture, and Yes is More. We even found a children’s book,Iggy Peck Architect! The books should be in within the next couple of weeks, so stop by the studio anytime or come to our July First Friday event to browse.
