Throughout our research of Raleigh, we have identified food apartheid as an issue that deserves more public attention. There are many organizations that are working towards food insecurity for the city, and we want to support and galvanize this network with our proposal. By scattering greenhouses around the city, we are creating an ecological urban system that can help provide fresh and affordable produce year-round. This module can be fit or molded into otherwise overlooked and unused spaces in Raleigh, contextualized based on the needs of the nearby community.

Their proposal, Project:Plant, targets an underused public space as a case study for a food hub, activating the underutilized site as a gathering place, community kitchen, and public marketplace for greenhouse owners to ‘come-to-market’.
